I also run my “Meet Your Ingredients” which is a foraging course with food & drink offered to private groups/get-togethers, staff training days agreed and much more. All agreed when booking. Woodoaks Farm lies just to the west of London at Maple Cross in Hertfordshire. It extends to just over 300 acres and includes arable and pastureland and around 75 acres of semi-natural woodland. The farm has been in the Findlay Family since the 1920’s and in November 2020 Sally Findlay donated Woodoaks to the Soil Association Land Trust to ensure it will be farmed sustainably into the future; producing good food, improving wildlife and continuing to welcome people.
On booking a course we will meet at the Woodoaks Farm, Denham Way, Maple Cross, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, WD3 9XQ before heading out into some of the hedgerows and surrounding woodlands for a 2.5 hour flavour-led-foraging walk.
Flavour-Led Foraging Walks
These walks are an introduction to foraging for flavour in order to teach on the rules and regulations, identification techniques, and the risks associated with wild food and drink. Throughout the walk we will identify seasonal ingredients and compare and contrast with their dangerous counterparts. During this I will be regularly visiting certain techniques of preservation and ways in which to create tasty wild ingredients to use at home along with a few tasters along the way.
