Wild Flavours & Feast @ The Castle Climbing Centre

September 25 @ 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Hidden behind the walls of The Castle Climbing Centre on Green Lanes lies one of North London’s best-kept secrets: a beautiful walled garden bursting with edible plants, herbs, fruits and flowers. This remarkable space provides the perfect setting for an evening celebrating the flavours that nature has to offer.

The experience begins with a 1.5-hour guided walk through Clissold Park and the surrounding area, where we’ll explore the wild ingredients growing around us. Along the way, you’ll learn practical identification techniques, discover the folklore and history behind wild foods, and hear how these ingredients have been used across Britain and around the world for generations.

Our walk culminates in the stunning Castle Climbing Centre Garden, where we’ll gather for a seasonal wild-inspired feast. Many of the ingredients featured will come directly from the garden itself, complemented by carefully selected wild ingredients foraged along the way. The meal will be accompanied by a range of wild drinks designed to showcase the diversity and character of Britain’s edible landscape.

This event is about more than simply eating wild food. It’s about understanding flavour: where it comes from, how to find it, and why people across cultures have relied upon these ingredients for centuries. Every menu is shaped by the season, celebrating what is naturally available at that moment in time.

At Flavour Fred, we believe flavour should be natural, honest, and have a little earth still clinging to it. No convoluted supply chains. No air miles. Just exceptional ingredients growing around us, waiting to be rediscovered.

For most of human history, our relationship with nature was inseparable from the food we ate. While many of those connections have faded, the knowledge remains. Through foraging, storytelling and shared meals, this event aims to reconnect people with the landscapes that sustain us and help keep these valuable traditions alive for future generations.
