Mushrooms are undoubtably interesting and exciting! It’s important to be aware of what’s around us and in terms of mushrooms there are certainly tasty ones and plenty of poisonous ones too.

We also love it when we stumble across a rarer species out there and observe them, their characteristics and leave them be.

Here we have the Volvariella Bombycina – the Silky Rosegill. With its rosey gills and a beautiful silky smooth cap growing out of knots on a Horse Chestnut I imagine (most common finds for me). It too grows out of a sac just like the Amanita family so could be confused with a poisonous ones as I described in the previous video. It doesn’t grow out of the ground so that’s a simple ID but that doesn’t meant I can’t be growing out of a bit of dead wood or bark in the ground. Also as I said fairly rare/uncommon so it stays right there.

Want to learn more about the wild and its flora, fungi and more? Head over to my bio and check the dates out for my walks and sessions for the rest of this mushroom season.
